War Room Review

War Room is still out in theaters right now, so I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it. Here is the basic plot: Realtor agent Elizabeth Jordan meets an elderly woman named Clara who is selling her long time house to live with her son. Clara begins to witness to Elizabeth, telling her that she needs to rely on Jesus and pray for the situations in her life. Soon Elizabeth confides in Clara about her failing marriage and broken relationship with her daughter. Through Clara's encouragement, and the power of prayer, Elizabeth's life could change forever. But she will she choose to rely on Christ?

War Room was created by the Kendrick Brother who also made such wonderful movies as Courageous, Fireproof, Facing the Giants, and Flywheel. They have an impression track record in making hit Christian films that not only encourage Christians to rely on God, but also to help non-believers to understand the life of a Christian and how rewarding and difficult it can be.

It has been five years since the last Kendrick film. So did this one do as well as the last? Well, the estimated budget for the film was 3 millions dollars, the opening weekend grossed them over 11 million, and as of October 9th, they have now grossed over 63 million dollars! If that doesn't say something, I don't know what does. This movie was an amazing success. It was even the Number 1# movie for a while in the US and Canada. Though, the critics weren't impressed. It is currently at 38% on Rotten Tomatoes with 90% of non professional critics liking it. If you ask me, that doesn't add up.

But anyway, this movie is just simply amazing. We are at a time in our Christian lives that it is mandatory for us to go into our real or metaphorical war room and pray for...well, just everything. In this film they pray for family. You may pray for your friends, the state you live in, your country, a neighbor. Whatever it might be, we need to be praying instead of fighting in the wrong way. This film shows us how to do that in an entertaining and inspiring way. I guarantee after watching this movie you will want to clean out your closet and pray in your own war room.

Story- 9/10
.
Really great and encouraging story.

Main Character- 9/10

All very likable and unlikable; in the right ways, of course.

Side Characters- 8/10

Though most of them didn't have a lot to do with the story, they are were very likable as well.

Villain- 9/10

I guess the villain would be Satan. Who's more evil than Satan?
(I deduced one point cause I don't like Satan)

Effects/Animation- 10/10

The quality was really amazing and looked great!

Songs/Score- 8/10

Score was very well done and uplifting.

Entertainment Factor- 9/10

I was very impressed by how drawn into the story I was as I was watching this movie. The humor, as in all Kendricks' movies, kept it very entertaining throughout.

Total Score-  89%
